Former Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter has conceded defeat after he was trounced in UDA party ticket for Kericho governor’s race.

University lecturer Erick Mutai defeated Keter in nominations in Kericho. Mutai won with 126,038 votes against Keter’s 60,342 votes.

Via Twitter on Saturday, Keter appreciated his supporters as he applauded Mutai for his victory.

“I thank the great people of Kericho for turning up to vote peacefully in the just concluded nominations exercise. Congratulations to all winners I wish them all the best,” he asaid.

“To all my supporters, agents and teams, I convey my appreciation and gratitude for your support. God bless you and God bless Kericho. Happy Easter!!”Keter had expressed confidence that he would win the ticket.

He cast his vote at Kapmasoo Primary school in the Belgut sub-county during the UDA nomination exercise.

He challenged both those who will win and lose the nominations to maintain peace.
