Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has slammed Deputy President William Ruto, claiming that he plans to change the Constitution.

Speaking during a press conference on Thursday, May 12, Junet accused the Deputy President of double standards and plotting to reintroduce the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) if he wins the August polls.

Junet pointed out that DP Ruto strongly opposed BBI but now he is leading a movement where he is planning on dishing out positions that are non-existent.The Executive Committee member of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition claimed that DP Ruto is re-inventing the BBI and he plans to bring it back through the back door.

He stated that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party is fronting DP Ruto as the President while the other principals in the Kenya Kwanza coalition will have positions created to accommodate them.

“UDA will produce the President and Deputy President while ANC that is Musalia Mudavadi will be occupying the position of Prime Minister which is non-existent. Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula will be the Speaker of the Senate.

“From this lineup, two things came out clearly that Kenyan Kwanza under William  Ruto is about positions. It’s not about the common mwananchi, it’s about positions,” he stated.

He divulged that in Azimio, “we have been clear from the start that Kenya needs a political and governance structure that accommodates all the communities.””Musalia, Wetangula, Kingi, and Mutua have been conned by DP. They are caught in the throes of an elaborate con game and ‘wash wash’ scheme. To tell Musalia and Wetangula to deliver 70% of Western Kenya to Ruto is a con, they can’t deliver that,” he added.

In the agreement dated May 8 , Ruto was picked as the Presidential flag-bearer and will be deputised by a member from his party as well. This effectively strikes out Mudavadi from the running mate matrix.

The Coalition agreement, which was prepared by the Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki, also indicated that if the alliance clinched power, they would champion the creation of a Prime Minister’s post which will be held by Mudavadi.

Mudavadi was given a condition to ensure that together with Wetangula they deliver 70 per cent vote in the five counties of Western Kenya, comprising Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga and Trans Nzoia.

Maendeleo Chap Chap leader and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, who joined the coalition over the weekend, demanded one Cabinet Sectary slot related to infrastructure but he should provide 35 per cent vote of Ukambani’s three counties.
