Nyashinski performs at the 'Shin City' rehearsal on March 30, 2022.
Top Kenyan artiste Nyashinski is all set and ready to go for his one-man show dubbed ‘Shin City’ to be held on April 16, 2022 at the Carnivore Grounds.
This after Nyashinski, real name Nyamari Ongegu, held a successful live rehearsal at The Winning Post, Ngong Racecourse, where he hosted friends, celebrities and media personalities on Wednesday night.
The ‘Properly’ hitmaker, addressing the press after the rehearsal, said there would be no curtain raisers at the much-awaited concert,
He said he has been rehearsing with his team everyday for nearly three months now; hence it would not make sense to involve an artiste who has not been putting the same amount of effort as they have.
He further promised his fans value for their money, saying ‘Shin City’ will not just be a normal concert, but an entire musical experience of its own caliber.
“We have been rehearsing for two months now. Some artistes might come to such shows and give their rate cards, which is fine, but some might not have put the same amount of effort that we have and there will be a disconnect,” he said.
“There is a cycle of getting paid to curtain-raise then using that money to produce a music video and going back to curtain-raise. This is not sustainable.”
He added: “It is a production-led experience, I want us to think of it as more than just a gig. It is many different elements coming together to make it happen. Shin City is part, of the show itself, and the experience on the ground. We are following a scripted specific order to ensure the presentation is precise. I want to give guys value for their money.”
Nyashinski’s management, in a subsequent statement to newsrooms, described ‘Shin City’ as the creation of the music maverick that will provide an opportunity for fans to immerse all their senses in an incredible experential showcase; a collaboration of music and story-telling.
