Wanyonyi was seeking the Azimio La Umoja Governor nomination ticket in Nairobi but stepped down to support Igathe who was the coalition’s preferred candidate.
On Thursday Igathe paid a courtesy call to Wanyonyi at his office where the Westlands MP publicly expressed support for his Governorship bid.
In photos shared online the two leaders were seen heartily shaking hands as they exchanged hats branded ‘Tim Wanyonyi’.
“A courtesy call from the Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya Alliance Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe. Asante,” wrote Wanyonyi.
Tim Wanyonyi dropped his bid for Nairobi governor to back the candidature of former Equity Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Polycarp Igathe on Friday, April 22.
This unprecedented move was announced by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party leader Raila Odinga who said the decision was made following consultation talks among the leaders.
Wanyonyi has since declared that he will defend his Westlands MP seat in the August elections.
